Regular dinner group (By JvT @ Fitzgerald): Beautiful and complex bouquet with smoke, toast and barnyard. On the palate special, but juicy, dark berries, sweet spices, chocolate, tannin with a bite and good acidity. Still ok.

We believe this is the first vintage made, 60% Tannat and 40% Montepulciano, sourced directly from the producer. Required decanting, to evolve , shed a funky smell and really settle down. But post that it was on form. Light me infants of oak but well assimilated, secondary notes but also a good amount of dark fruit, firm tannin and vibrant acidity. Very solid wine. 92-93

Very deep colored, ruby with a hint of purple still... Nice clean nose with aromas of coffee, chocolate and black fruit. Less weighty on the palate than expected, smooth and rounded and flavorful, at a nice stage to drink now. Can keep for much longer. One of the best reds from Alpha Estate I have ever tasted.

Needs some extra time to develop. Fairly closed still. Meaty/roasty flavours with some cherry, cedar, leather. Given the extremely dark color and nice rich toasty notes on the nose you would expect something more in the mouth, alas it falls short and ends up being a bit dull.

Decanted for about one hour. Deep ruby color with an almost black core. Still colosed nose, with scents of ham and spices. After some aeration in the glasses reveals aromas of cherry liquer, red ripe fruits and tobacco. Concentrated, but a bit confused on the palate, with flavors of oak, cherry, spices and menthol. Still tannic, needs some more 3 or 4 years to improve
