  • Decanted and it opened quickly. Still with good fruit (fig, plum and currant). Finish the bottle the next day and was even better.

  • Last bottle from a case.
Dark color. Black core. Garnet hue.
Some barnyard and acetone and alcohol aromas. Black cherry aroma. Faded prune fruit. Has some sort of gentle juicy character with some acid to keep it drinkable. However, the fruit is faded, the tannins are limpid and the acids are secondary. Reminds me of a cheap Napa cab that got left out over night. I’m glad this is the last bottle, never really amounted to being a good wine. Had a few bottles a few years past that at least were decent but this is falling off. I paid $20 a bottle approx 10+ years ago. Wouldn’t pay more than $15 for this stuff at this point Went from bland in first five years to hinting at something in the second five years to falling apart now.

  • Fairly dark core but it is beginning to show signs of age around the rim. Tertiary notes emerging. Wine is medium body but beginning to fade in texture. The grip is fading. This may be the best this wine gets. I’ve worked 3/4 through a case and the nose is better than before but the wine has gone from dense and boring to flat and fading. Grapey flavors. I’m ready to move on from this one.

  • 7th bottle in the case.
The wine finally shows signs of age and maturity.
There is some orange bricking around the rim of the glass and the wine has faded from a dark purple to a pale ruby (over the past 10 years of drinking the case). The mouthfeel of the wine has changed from dense and introverted into a pleasant bordeaux with signs of tertiary development, a change I usually expect to find in cabernet after 10 years of age. Its happening here! I wouldn't expect the wine to improve at this point and this is in my opinion the prime drinking window. Enjoy.

  • From our "Drink Up" list, and our last of 9 bottles of this wine. This wine, comparing to our past notes, is on the downhill side. While there are no off tastes, the flavors are flattening out. It is smooth and easy drinking, just not interesting. That said, it did go well with our leftover smoked brisket and our fav BBQ sauce. Drink up.
