This is in absolutely excellent shape. A relatively rich Volnay. It is very well integrated and balanced. Dark cherries, solid (but not overwhelming) minerals. Plenty of information around the edges of the tongue like a good burg does. Great mouth feel with a hint of that old world ‘sauvage’ but I mean that in a good way. Classic burgundy doing everything it is supposed to do.

All kinds of potential here, but clearly quite young and primary today. Lots of concentrated red cherry with toasted herbs and spice. Lush with round edges, despite the inward nature.

Holiday Champagne Gala (Park Ridge Country Club): Small glass, brief note. From magnum. A little reductive, but more backward. Good concentration and clear potential, but I'd cellar until 2025 or later.

Dinner at The Bristol (The Bristol - Chicago, IL): Saves the day after two corked Pinots. Young and not yet showing its potential, I still enjoyed this for its pretty, pure red fruits. Aromatics are tight and primarily about red fruits. The palate has pretty and transparent red cherry with florals. Elegantly styled. Better in 10 years. 92 today, with upside.
