(14.5%) 100% Grenache – Found this one ($7) while surfing K&L’s clearance section (regularly $10) and was intrigued enough to give this Grenache a go. This offering was first released in 2004 and hails from the Cévennes region, above the Mediterranean Sea. On the palate this is fresh and racy with nice cherry flavors backed by a firm mineral acidity. From there the finish is rustic, dry and spiced with light, lingering tannins. This one comes across amazingly light given its ABV and would work well with summer fare but I’d steer clear of richer foods. At $7 this one is certainly worth buying but not quite compelling enough to guarantee I’ll do so again…

Made into sangria. Took a taste first, rustic and coarse but not offensive. Made nice sangria!
