I bought it because first, I thought it was cool that the wine is produced using Solara. Additionally, the wine was on sale for less than half of the average fetching price I found on the web. This was very affordable! However, if you are looking for Sangiovese character or even Italian character from this wine it is hard to find. The nose is boring. A hint of fruit, maybe some oak but not much else. Hard to distinguish much from the mouth either. I do get quite a bit of acid but that is the overwhelming characteristic. Medium tannin, maybe medium minus. This is likely a food wine. I am not eating anything at the moment so perhaps that may help. I bought a few bottles so I’ll revisit this review later. I definitely don’t feel bad about buying this wine considering the price. However, I may have been disappointed if I had paid full price.

Tasted blind. Quickie afternoon visit at Chateau Davyd. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, purple colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of minty green herbs, blackberries, dark red cherries, light licorice. Youthful. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), fine smooth medium+ tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of peppermint spice, green bell peppers, grilled herbs, blackberries, dark red cherries, licorice, some slight cola. Medium+ finish. Good quality. Well-made. More for a pleasant casual drink than serious contemplative drinking. Was calling this out as some non-distinct youthful modern-styled Cab blend. Ughh where is the Sangiovese character? 80% Sangiovese, 13% Merlot, 7% Syrah. Made in a solera.

Metodo Solera applicato al sangiovese toscano. Molto floreale, leggero sia come alcool che come corpo e con una leggera punta acida. Originale e ben riuscito. Rapporto q/p molto alto.

Dark ruby. Quite a lot of spice and pepper, with a distinct note of licorice. Not something I expect from a Sangiovese. First time trying a red that is blended solera style. The tannins are quite approachable though breathing does help it. It fully blooms after about 20-30 mins. All in all, quite enjoyable, with a good QPR, plus extra interest factor from the solera style blend.

Fights way above its weight. Impressive for the price point.
