Has that cherries dipped in chocolate flavor that all the Chatom reds have in common, and the lack of acid that they also have in common. Hint of zin portiness, but not ott. Almost fits into the school of somewhat-restrained zins, along the lines of Dashe, but it's not as good.

Clear medium ruby colored in the glass. Aromas of cranberry, red plum, smoke and vanilla. Medium-to-low acid, medium-grain tannins, this zinfandel focuses on sour cherry and red plum fruit, and there's a flavor that reminds me a lot of Thanksgiving cranberry sauce. Notes of pepper, tobacco and toast highlight the ripe fruit.

ZAP 2013 (San Francisco, CA): redish orange in color. wet soil, black currant, floral, spice, on the nose. wet earth, blueberry, pepper, oak, tar, spice, on the palate. medium tannins and acid on the finish.
