Third time's the charm. Last of three bottles and felt this finally lived up to its promise. Color still surprisingly on the darker red side. Nice full nose of aged fruit and leather. Rich, moderately complex palate of red fruit, spice and leather, decent balance and still fresh. Medium finish extended to long by still-heavy tannins that stay in the mouth. Fresh enough that it could go a few more years, but I don't think it will improve further.

Man has this wine changed. I'm still not convinced of its $60 price tag, but whereas I thought this was absolutely unredeemable and backwards the last time I tried it, over some days, this time around it's a seducer. Unmistakably Barolo, there's also rooty cola notes, minty herbal notes, and a stewiness that is more earthy-rooty than, say, overbaked cherries.

Really nice drinking window for this bottle right now. Enjoyed with Cooper's BBQ in Llano, TX. Bold but not over the top. Modern but not to the point of being hot or over-extracted. Fine fruit intensity, mostly on the fresh side. Not a lot of dried characteristics. Sensual easy drinking Barolo. The tannins approach not on the front but on the back side. You could say this is a bit backward but still a great wine. Can drink up to 10 years more. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Worth every penny.

A very nice, mature barolo. Tar, earth, leather and a core of black cherry. Nice body and presence.
