  • Negris brought back from Lombardy were variable . . . . but saved the best for last. Strawberry, cherry, menthol, cedar bouquet. Medium plus body/viscosity on spicy-red fruited attack, but becomes weightless on the mineral and cranberry laden finish. Tannins are light, almost imperceptible. Very Burgundian, perhaps along the lines of a Gattinara rather than Langhe-based Nebbiolo, though ethereal quality is rather unique for a Nebbiolo wine without great age.

  • Pairs with beef stew or most things you will pair a red burg with. Clean nose. Some scandal wood. Rose but rustic. Palate as expected too but with a bit more acid than i recall. Sour cherry from mid palate on. Finish longish with sour cherry

  • Light ruby colour, still no sign of ambering yet.
Full aromas of cherry, some tar and dried herbs. Full bodied with lively acidity and refined tannins. The finish is long and remains fresh. Still fresh and young, but nicely integrated. Drink now to 2017.

    Nice nebbiolo, excellent value.

  • Cherry, menthol, tobacco, spice. Ripe tannin, well structured, sweet fruit, lengthy finish with a hint of tar, warm. Med/full body, giving an almost Barbaresco-like weight and texture. Consistent with perceived typical character: not as powerful as Inferno, more stuffing than Grummello and Valgella. Yet this was open and nuanced aromatically. A bargain.

  • medium-bodied nebbiolo from Valtellina ("chiavennasca" grapes). Light rubin red color and a characteristic hint of herbes and earth. Good price-to-quality however. Nino Negri a point of reference in Valtellina. Best paired with pasta or white meat. Enjoyable.
