  Stellar example of aged California chardonnay from a first-class producer. Nothing 'old' about it, just great depth and complexity.

  On first opening this one had a strong metallic aftertaste that was not pleasant. This blew off in an hour or so to leave a delicious mature wine.

  Beautiful yellow color with a bouquet and flavor dominated by angular lemon and pineapple, with whiffs of petrol, a bit of toast, and just a touch of butterscotch. A testament to a mineral-driven Chardonnay, but with those wonderful citrus notes. I usually prefer the warm, toasty, buttery Chardonnays, say a Chassagne-Montrachet, rather than a Puligny-Montrachet, or an Aubert, rather than a Flowers. But wow! This wine had really great nuance and depth, and a long finish, and was just really lovely.
