  • Glass: Zalto Universal
Bottle bought on release. Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Clear, deep golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Lots of stony mineral notes, stems, mellow apple, blossoms, herbs, anise. Very deep, dense and complex.
Dry, medium+, well integrated acidity. Medium tannin and body, 13,5% abv. Flavors of apple, bitter orange and zests, stony mineral notes and surprisingly spicy. Wonderful grip, very dense and deep, good balance. Long, zesty and spicy finish. Gets better every day, so I assume there is still potential for ageing and improvement. 92-93+

  • PNP. Cork perfect. color light gold. nose has rich fruit and palate seems more oxidized than i expected, although served at cellar temperature. definitely shows a streak of RS but this completely disappeared after chilling. chilled this seems pretty dry and almost chalky and this mostly masks any sign of oxidation. good - serve this chilly

  • Surprisingly dark yellow. Aromas of ripe yellow fruit and minerals. Ripe, acidic and a bit rancid on the palate. Lacks some elegance.

  • Hva er den perfekte terassevin? Jeg lever såpass i nuet at svaret kommer an på tidspunktet spørsmålet stilles. Og akkurat nå er svaret definitivt Riesling! :-D

    Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland 2010
    Farge: dyp mangogul
Lukt: honning og tropisk frukt, kanskje litchi.
I munnen: Tørr, men ikke knusktørr. Stadig honning, modent gult eple, modne stikkelsbær. Etter hvert trer også tropiske frukter frem, litchi og kanskje litt tørket aprikos. Ettersmaken sitter lenge. Mmmm.... DET var terassevinen sin, det!

  • Tastes advanced, without many redeeming qualities. Drinkable but not particularly enjoyable.

(Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling "Hinterhaus") ($51.00) How do you follow the almost perfect ’09? This one is more angular, with a less sanguine temperament; the buckwheat and quinoa mid-palate are there but with minty edges, so that it seems to be a cozy brown-butter sort of wine until this manic lash of mint, vaudovan and menthol. Again please, not too cold.
