Tasted blind in week three of Blind.Faith’s blind-tasting competition: a red and a white from the same region. I felt it was a wine from a warmer, riper climate (there’s quite a hit of alcohol on here) and went for a new world Cabernet blend made in an old-world-style. Sort of right, but not at all ;-) Deep ruby red, right to the rim. The nose is fruity and floral with some cherry and a bit of green pepper. A touch of cedar too. Although the plate is fruit led and has quite a hit of alcohol it’s still very balanced and quite elegant. There is a lovely purity and freshness to the fruit and a creamy toasty finish. A very enjoyable wine and in a good place to drink.

Great wine! Fabulous nose with aromas of dark and concentrate fruit, chocolate, pine, sweet spices, licorice, and ashes. Nice structure in the mouth, very balanced, ripe and soft tannins, high alcohol, and fresh acidity. Full body. Lots of fruit contraction balanced by structure. Earthy and fruity, tertiary notes add complexity. Very persistent. In a nice drinking window. PS. Most guests guessed Bordeaux, some Valpolicella.

This is a big and bold Italian wine. Purple color, strong in tannins and sharp finish. Need a good steak to pair nicely.

Peculiar aromas with smoke, brioche and spices. Light and tender on the palate. Good concentration.

Big and bold, austere with lots of tannins and minerality. This wine will age for a longggggg time. It maybe better after 2020 IMO.
Decant it for over 1 hour will be recommended.
