Glass: Zalto Universal Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, medium lemon color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful-developing nose with lots of salt lemon, citrus zests, yellow fruit, mango and a wonderful mineral touch. Dense, complex and very beautiful. Off-dry, medium+, ripe and well-integrated acidity. On the palate some lovely bitte notes, yellow stone fruit, woodruff, fine vanilla and a very intense mineral core. Wonderful long herbaceous, stony finish. Beautiful tension and depth, very joyful to drink. I guess, it slowly reaches its full potential, but will stay at this level for a very long time. Great Kabinett with a very good PQR. 91+

Not so fond of this bottle like my last one. I think the 2011 vintage is currently either in some kind of muted phase or starts fading... Needs air, which makes me think that it is simply closed. It has all a good Riesling Kabinett Needs, but it is currently like someone turned the "volume" down. Next bottle in 1-2 years.

Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Bottle simply popped and poured. Clean and clear light golden color. The nose is stunning, clean and intense. Sometimes I immediately think of colors when smelling wine and this smells “brown” :) Smoky, tart, stony minerality, mixed with exotic/tropic fruits. This wine is “feinherb”, an artificial German word for neither dry nor off-dry/sweet. It has some residual sugar which is buffered by the well-integrated acidity. It has a bit more power than usual Mosel Kabinetts, due to its alcohol level of 11%. The taste is again “brown”: you can feel the brown-grey slate it was grown own. A perfect example of a great Mosel Riesling Kabinett: fruit, slate, acidity and sugar all in a perfect balance and harmony. It is simply enjoying to drink without being “too easy or graceless” and has a medium+ - long finish. Really good and it has at least a decade of further development ahead.
