14.2% alcohol. Coravin 1/1/18: Medium clear ruby with very slight bricking; nose is moderately aromatic, polished darker fruits, iodine minerality, slight heat but not distracting; palate is medium bodied, balanced elegant but ripe fruits, silky fully integrated medium tannins, medium-plus alcohol which shows a bit at the end; medium finish. Drinking well now, not the interest of an excellent Northern Rhone but well made and enjoyable. Not sure what there is to be gained by an additional 10 years, but it shows no signs of fading. 89-90 1 hour decanting: Similar components and overall a good wine, but lacks complexity and interest on the palate and real depth, though it partially makes up for some of that with smooth texture and integrated tannins/drinkability. 1/14: Opened the remainder of the bottle. Same impressions as before: enjoyable, slight excess alcohol but not bad, definitely new world style but done well. 89

Probably still on the young side to open this, but it was staring at me. I really like the nose on this, with a combination of dark fruit compote and an interesting savory note; lots of intensity on the palate, fairly ripe, slightly high toned fruit, but very well balanced with a good dose of acidity, along with some moderate tannins. This will go very well with our dinner of 16-hour smoked brisket!

Gave 3 hours of air in the decanter. Nice candied spices and herbal wildflower on the nose. Some delicate warm game as well. The palate is rich with deep round fruit and broad soft tannin without feeling too soft. Stands up with some tart minerals also. Finishes full and with some nice chew. Nice finish. PJG: 90

Decanted 1 hr. At 10 years, still tasting quite young. Bursting summer berries. I wish I had one more bottle to revisit in 2018.
