Similar notes to last bottle. Great Syrah with a perfect blend of dark fruit, some pepper, tar, some sweetness and savoriness. Yummy! Much kudos to Tom Dehlinger for being a great and unsung early Rhône ranger.

Tom Dehlinger’s syrahs are always great and this one seems to have a lot of life ahead of it. Black, somewhat sweet fruit with tar and some black pepper. Long finish.

From a bottle purchased upon release and cellared under ideal conditions, this wine was decanted off of its sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. Sporting a youthful opaque crimson robe, it serves up an aromatic profile of blackberries, dark plums, lavender, white pepper, iron and marjoram. Full-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with plentiful silky-textured tannins, it delivers flavors that mirror the aromas and stays solid on the mid-palate. Despite being listed as a lofty 15.2%, the alcohol stays in check when served at the appropriate temperature of 60-65°F. Long and smooth on the back end, this is a well-crafted Syrah that should easily reach its twentieth birthday. If you choose to pop the cork at this stage, give it at least an hour in decanter. Drink now-2034.

Opens up sweet, but quickly turns to the savory side of things. Slightly smoky, meaty nose, with iodine, olive and sagebrush notes. Flavors and minerally, with white pepper, floral and herbal, with a slight alcoholic heat. Body is medium with a waxy coating quality. Enjoyable, but a big brawny style of wine.

Modern style. Densely extracted. Some heat. Will hold the rest.
