  • Burgundy lunch: Another old school burgundy, fully mature with some tertiary notes of sous bois. Guessed this as an off-vintage because the fruit was a little dull, but turned out to be a 1993. Elegant on the entry but I found it slightly austere with biting tannins that led me to CdB. Went downhill after a couple of hours with feral notes but at the beginning it was a very good drink.

  • Burg Lunch at Wah Lok. Drank in Grassl 1855 (brought the wrong glass).
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with wide garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of earth soil, vegetal sous bois, mushroom, leather, iron. Developed.
On the palate, dry, decently high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), integrated but still drying high tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lightly vegetal sous bois, earth, green tea, elegant leather, sweet red plum, tart red cherry, mushroom, iron meat with more air. Long finish where the drying tannin is felt.
Very good quality. Supposedly off vintage but showing well at a tertiary stage for me. Pommard character yes but has a somewhat elegant edge to it. Drink up.
