I had a bottle of this chianti in July 2009. I did not care for it, I thought it too chemical and lacking in fruit. The bottle I opened tonight (bought at about the same time as the first bottle) was very pleasant, fruity and fresh. I do not remember how I handled the first bottle. The current bottle had been opened for about an hour before drinking. I do not know if that made a difference or if this is just bottle to bottle variation.

a nice surprise, i pulled this bottle from the rack reluctantly to go with pasta al ragù. quite dark. nose of cherry, cassis, herbal notes, liquorice. full bodied with nice acidity, good with food.

Gamey on the nose, strawberry and slightly drying - actually quite a good quaffer on its own - marked highly as I got this for £5.99 from Sainsbury's which is probably the best QPR I've every experienced on an Italian red...

(Luigi Cecchi & Figli Chianti Classico) Blending 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo Nero and Colorino Toscano, this wine is delicately perfumed with notes of cherry, strawberry, red licorice, sun-dried tomato, basil, fennel, and dried leaves. Despite its subtle aroma, it delivers an intense hit of strawberry jam and orange zest on the palate, which is rounded out by softly gripping fruit tannins and gentle, consistent acidity. Because the Cecchi is not aged in new oak, it has a soft, delicate style that is rarely seen these days. Special Report: Chianti Classico
