  • Once again, this Rose' is really something special. Probably not quite as rich and concentrated as the 2010. This is Petit Sirah bleed wine from their Heritage Block vineyard that dates back over 100 years. This has very limited production, so on this side of the country, you have to be a member of the wine club to get some. Without knowing what was in the glass, I immediately smelled a crushed prune skin meets ripe blueberry aroma I associated with Petit Sirah. Next, though relatively transparent, the color was so rich in magenta, I have seen lighter Pinot Noirs. The fun really starts with the fruit flavors. Rarely do we get this much concentration from a rose. The skins have been broken, so there is a wide array of flavors from red to dark like fresh broken plum skin, cranberry, blueberry, red raspberry, and both red and dark cherry. For a rose, this is luscious. The flavors fully coat the mouth with sheer elegance. Almost full bodied. So balanced you can't perceive the considerable acid, or the alcohol. The finish is cherry skin and cranberry.

  • Crisp and clean flavors of light strawberry and a little cherry. Nothing wrong here, just not that all exciting.

  • Wine Reviews: Rosé: SRP: $20. A shockingly dark rosé – it almost looks like a Beaujolais. On the nose, fresh cranberries meet sweet strawberries and a hint of candied cherries and graphite. The palate, while weighty, is light on its feet and well-balanced, with zippy acidity.

  • Pacific Pointe Wine Tasting Club - Petite Sirah Smackdown; Round 2: Lovely pink-red color with cherry, plum. On the palate its full-bodied for a Rosé, and dry, with good acidity and bountiful cherry, raspberry, and mineral flavors. Medium finish. 100% Petite Rosé from old vine (100+ y.o) 13.5% alcohol.

  • Simple Hedonisms Rosé Panel; 5/1/2012-8/5/2012: A rare beast, this Rosé of Petite Sirah is wonderful, and unexpected.

The color is a dark pink to light red, vibrant, clear and smile invoking.
On the nose one picks up freshly picked strawberry, rose petal, and a hint of wet stone.
In The Mouth - its bright and zingy. Bing cherry, cranberry, hibiscus agua fresca.
Its bright front, mid and finish. The good acidity numbers show through, and the 4 months
(surely neutral) barrel aging give it some complexity that softens the acid and helps some
    minerality, concentration s and roundness.

    Bravo, buy some before gone.

Note to self - always thought of Field Stone as a Alexander Valley Cab house, must get out and taste more of their portfolio, if it follows like this.
