A lovely, mature Cabernet that had good delineation and just enough fruit. It never really evolved into anything deeply interesting but what it offered was satisfying.

This wine had a good night. It showed excellent developed characteristics yet retained a freshness that surprised most tasters. After pulling the cork, it sat open for about 30 minutes. Smoothly integrated tannins worked with notes of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate, baking spices, and tertiary flavors of leather plus forest floor to create a fantastic drinking experience.

11/05 Looking for an aged Cal Cab - medium-bodied - light fruit nose - flat fruit with cherry emerging as it opens up - non-descript through the mid-palate - tight astingent finish opening to some dark chocolate and coffee - slight hint of complexity- way off-balanced - not finely aged - can never regain any balance. 85 pts
