Liquid cherry pie! I could honestly stop the description there, and it would be apt, but for those of you who actually get this far in the reviews I suppose I should provide a little more substance. Ripe fruits and pastry stole the show here, obviously, but that doesn't mean things were totally out of balance. Baking spices, black pepper, licorice, and a touch of cigar all did make an appearance. The wine was certainly rich and full of flavour, and although the powerful oak notes (vanilla, pastry, nuttiness) played a prominent role, it didn't feel out of place. Tannins were medium at most; the incredibly smooth and pleasing mouthfeel left a smile on my face. There wasn't a lot of depth, and despite it having a few years on it there didn't seem to be even a hint of tertiary notes, but...I felt as though I spent half of the bottle searching for things to complain about, but in the end had to concede that this was just darn tasty (and enjoyed the hell out of the remainder!!).

A trusty light-to-medium bodied drop. Benefits from a few hours in the decanter, if not to filter out some of the sediment. These drinking well now, will get through the rest in the next 2-3 years.

Decanted for 30mins. Dark opaque in colour. Licorice and spice dominate the nose. Lots of tannin still, with cherry and dark fruit. Great length and full bodied. Excellent bang for your buck. Definitely buy again.
