blind vs Abtserde2011 The winner was in this case the Keller wine. Fresher and more balanced. I guessed Kirchspiel 2013. No petrol and more on the fresh side. At least 5-7 years ahead. 93

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2011 (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal Bottle double decanted about 7h before the tasting. Bought at release, perfectly stored. Clear, medium golden color. Beautiful deep mineral and spicy nose, some menthol. Rounder and softer than the AbtsE, but also very balanced and elegant. Great mineral core. Long finish. Way better than the Kirchspiel, but also seems to be at its full peak. Drink now – 3 years. 92-93

Thought 2011 and I will never become friends, but this Brunnenhäuschen from Phillip Wittmann was a real stunner. The intense nose shows a nice mix of ripe yellow stone fruit, citrus, herbs and tons of wet stones. Lots of intensity also on the palate. You can feel the warmer vintage here with the bit more of power on the mid-palate, although the fruit is more withdrawn. Very juicy, long with a vibrant, salty finish. Definitely one of the best 2011 I had to date. Still some potential left for a even better rating in 5-10 years. 94+

Side by side with Keller Abtserde. Very similar, not the same concentration but still young. 93-94
