  • This was just fabulous. The last of 2 bottles purchased on release. Shared over hors d'ouvres of shrimp cocktail and stuffed mushrooms.

The wine is well developed, with a medium amber color and a good bit of effervescence left! Notes of cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose, with softened notes of red apple. Oozing with honey, toffee, and other suggestions of maillard reaction in bottle over the decades. This was marvelous. You can sense the concentration of old, pre-phyloxera vine fruit. It is sappy and long. Surely the only time I'll ever taste this!

  • Looked quite advanced at first but got quite a bit better after spending some time in the glass. There’s some caramel development and roasted nut action. It is soft and pillowy in the mouth but gains intensity and there are plenty of mushroom and earth notes. It is quite meaty on the finish with a soy-like umami flavour.

  • Drunk to usher in the New Year while watching the fantastic fireworks at the Petronas Towers in KL. A nose of Christmas cake, cinnamon, bitter chocolate and macerated fraises de bois. A meditation wine. Demands attention and air ! Remarkable but probably at its peak .
