Wines and Grill (Chicago, IL): Served blind, and immediately guessed as young (2011 or 2013) white Burgundy. Waxy, with lots of acidity, though at the same time, there was so much freshness and tension holding this wine together. What I didn't pick up initially was the slight tinge of herbal green that had more to it than just slightly underripe chardonnay fruit.

Just brilliant semillon and a baby at ten year. Lemons, hay, and minerals with some background toast and honey. But it really is so undeveloped and fresh and mineral. Enjoyable at every level.

Some oak on nose and palate, but dominant note is a metallic character. Clean, minerally, with acid finish. Not as thick or oily as some semillon. I enjoyed it for being interesting and unusual, but I liked the $17 Brokenwood better. I had it with roast chicken. It would be better with oysters or crab. With the high acid it might keep and soften up a bit.
