I'd like to like Groth's Chardonnay as much as I've enjoyed their Cabernet Sauvignons and Sauvignon Blancs over the years, but for some reason the Chardonnay has never clicked for me. At this juncture the 2010 version has peaked, and if it hasn't already, will start the process of quick decline over the next year. Needs food, in this case a Chopped Asian Salad, topped with sesame, cashews, and grilled salmon. Drink up.

At home. Bought for $14.29 at my local Ralph's. A bargain. Nice yellow-gold with good viscosity. Good fruit in the nose, honeyed apples with a deft bit of vanilla oak. Well-balanced, fairly elegant palate. Nice flavor and a good finish. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.

This is pretty good Chardonnay if this is a style you enjoy. A bit too middle of the road for my taste buds. My December 2012 tasting still applies: very Pinot Grigio like, juicy pears, crisp apple, and sweet melon. Not much butter and what little there is shows very faintly. As expected high quality and refreshing.

Too buttery, no citrus tones, very prevalent alcohol finish, disappointing
