Soooooo elegant. Just beautiful from the minute it touches your tongue. It has everything but nothing! This is as good as a GSM gets. Top rated. To think I paid $33 on futures. No way can you find a wine this good at this price. Just plain killer.

Incredible wine! So complete from front to back pallet. All three varietals so well integrated. Drinking really well now after a 1 hour decant. Hard to believe I bought this for $33 on futures. Good luck finding a wine of this quality at this price in the future.

Excellent+ This is into a mature phase and drinking beautifully. Immediately no doubt on the nose, Mourvedre in the lead. Upon opening the nose showed tertiary notes, but there was the slightest spritz / VA! Surprising. This quickly dissipated / integrated as there was balsamic, white balsamic, plum, aging game meat. Acid was notable, good. Damp leather, with time got just a bit of heat, started getting hints of brown sugar and molasses, but not at all cooked / baked. This wine shows nice depth and aged character while maintaining some vibrancy, never feeling heavy or drying.
Note: Purchased on release, receiving Dec. 2013. Until mid-2018 held in good conditions, fully dark, seasonal temperature range from low-mid-50s to low(upper)-60s F, ave low-60s F, after which it was transferred to offsite ideal conditions, 55 F. So this bottle's apparent age is likely slightly ahead of those held at 55 F the entire time.

At peak and drinking well !! This Rhone blend of 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Counoise is delightful. Near perfect cork, easily removed with my Durand after over a dozen years in the bottle. Medium ruby color with minor oxidation and good clarity. Consumed this baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape over two days. Reminiscent of Famille Perrin Château de Beaucastel version of the classic Rhône blend dependent on the Mourvèdre backbone. Well made in a challenging growing year. I still have one remaining in my cellar and will consume in a year or so to validate my tasting note.
