Dark crimson with lift on the nose. Fruit in the dark plum spectrum with savoury notes, spice and peppercorn. Integrated, quietly gripping tannins. Seductively nuanced. In a really good place. 13% ABV. Rhone via the Pyrenees.

Game of Rhones (St.Kilda Town Hall, Melbourne): medium minus aromas. Roses, peppercorns, smoke and a little black fruit. In the mouth the wine is juicy tangy, with slight spice, grippy, course tannin. Chunky. Disjointed. Hmm

I wrote "Bass Phillip pinot-like"?! In a bad way, though. Meaning serious, sour-ish without much sweet fruit character.
