  • Amazing that this is still drinking so well! Still has an intensely aromatic nose, feathery light and plenty of gulpable acidity on the finish, with a nice touch of earthiness. Wish I had more of these.

  • Purchased from Chambers Street Wines.

This is a quirky little bottle of wine. Lots of silty sediment in the bottle. Looking at it reminds me of the Cornelissen Susucaru "rose." Extremely translucent and light to the eye, a dark strawberry; a bit of funk and smoke on the nose, some red fruits; no real tannin at this point, medium-minus body (light), medium to medium-plus acidity; mouth is not easily described... doesn't seem to have a lot of gamay crunch to me, but bright red fruits, a bit more funk, cedar, slightly confected, tart cherry, some sort of tangerine/citrus maybe?, then gets lightly bitter towards the finish; medium length finish with bitter red fruits. Refreshing.

This is even lighter bodied than most Beaujolais and unique with its funkiness and bitter flavor profile. Worth picking up. Good with roast turkey, probably also with a simply cooked salmon or other light fowl. Ready now; drink over the next year.

Update: Okay, after about two hours open this is like Cornelissen in more than color alone. With time and warmth this got very Bretty and has a bit of that mildew flavor to it. While I like a little Brett in my cab franc, I am not loving this so much anymore. Great while it lasted.

  • This was an off bottle. Nothing like my previous experience. Cloudy, murky hue and rather flat palate.

  • This is a light-bodied, very aromatic, fresh and gulpable Beaujolais-Villages. There apparently is one Michel Guignier in Morgon and another in Vauxrenard, and this "good pick" is from the latter. A bit cloudy, this wine has the classic crunchy red gamay fruit, with a little bit of spice. A fantastic buy that offers terrific complexity for the $.

  • Oh my, this is terrifically refreshing and engaging! I think it's more about earth/mineral/metal tones than tangy fruit (mostly raspberry and cranberry), with a bit of a bitter edge. Oh, and white pepper. It's light and bright *and* complex and detailed. Note to self: check out more Guignier, and another bottle or two of this wouldn't be a bad thing. A whole lotta AFWE for seventy-five cents an ounce! This would be stellar with salami and similar.
