  • Black, slightly bitter fruit. Light to medium body. Had this at Bencotto in downtown SD. Nothing special especially for the price.

  • Meh... Typical inexpensive barbera. Ok with mid-week pasta...

  • Moderately deep and dark - almost black - cherry red color, that also has some translucency to it. A bit reticent nose at first, but after an hour or so, opens up to reveal aromas of juicy cherry, sweet arthy notes, some ripe raspberry and hints of bilberries. The palate is medium-bodied, very dry and with high, mouthwatering acidity. There are flavors of cherries, allspice, pronounced stony minerality, some smoke, a little tart cranberry and hints of dry, savory wood. The tannins are very low and easy. The finish is quite short and simple with straightforward flavors of redcurrants, black raspberries, some earth and a little smoke.

A perfectly nice little sipper to be enjoyed on its own or with something quite light and simple. Nothing special to write home about, but does not really need anything more either. Reasonably priced at 12,98€.
