Purple with fading edge. On the nose baked cherries with a slightly smokiness and black pepper. Surprising amount of red fruit - mostly cherries - on the pallate along with spices and earthy/leafy tertiary notes one would expect given the age. Some decent acidity giving this a certain freshness and and a decent finish.
Not the most complex Burgundy pinot noir but certainly enjoyable and felt good value for the age and flavour on offer. Enjoyed by the three of us.
The second early 90s Ampeau I'd tried at the LQV bar in Singapore and another good bottle overall.

Pop and pour, then followed over 4 hours. Initially there was a lot of brett, but most of it blew off after about 30 minutes. What remains is a smooth, easy-drinking and incredibly boring Burgundy. In its favor, it is still perfectly drinkable and in good shape. On the negative, no significant secondary or tertiary flavors. Downright boring. Day 2 was similar but the brett had increased.

Probably past its peak, but still had some pretty fruit and dusty earth notes. No Brett that I could detect, so I guess that makes me the winner.

Low-level brett, but drinkable. Will avoid producer in the future.
