Coal Valley Winery Visits Jan 2013 (Coal Valley, Tasmania): {screwcap, 13.5%, A$45} There’s a touch of olive green about the currant-derived aromas here. There’s a good amount of ripe acid on the palate, along with fine sandy tannins and cool-climate cabernet flavours. Medium-bodied, but a medium-long finish. Probably needs a few more years to integrate fully, but there’s still a looseness about this blend from Pooley that says it’ll be best before its 10 years old. Price reflects rarity a little more than quality, however.
