  • Well beyond it's time. Held up ok on first pour. Nose is muted. Fruit is gone at this point. There's a little structure. Fades quickly in the glass. Should have had this years ago.

  • This was the last bottle of this great vintage of Washington Cab Sauv in my cellar. The prior two I had opened had gone so past peak that they were raisin like in taste and brown in shade. This one held up and was, although past peak, still quite drinkable with a smoked grilled strip steak. The tannins had virtually disappeared and yet the result was still quite characteristic of a good Washington Cab. Except for the prior two bottles, this was a great vintage for the Columbia Crest label.

  • I'm scoring this 89 simply on QPR. Paid less than $9 for this back in 2005. Had with a steak off the grille, which was an excellent pairing. I'm surprised at how firm and well structured this is. This is my last bottle, which is a shame, would like to have a few more. Dark fruit in the nose and palate, some oak but hardly worth mentioning. Medium body with a nice lingering finish.

  • Surprisingly good for an inexpensive wine.

  • First off - this is a great QPR but be forewarned - my experience was based on buying this wine when it first became available and then holding it in a properly maintained cellar. Your local retailer may not have gone to the same lengths for a $10 bottle.
On the nose - mocha, damp earth, some dusty oak.
On the tongue - tobacco, cranberry, fading red fruit. Tannins still there, amazingly.
This is shockingly good for its QPR and age. Is it past its prime? Most definitely, but still quite worthy of a nice burger or pasta and red sauce.
