  • Penultimate bottle from a 6 pack, last had a bottle 1.5 yrs ago.
Savory meats, lovely black and red fruits, faint wood fire smoke, black pepper, mint.
Gorgeously resolving tannins, this is a regal fine wine, not a feminine interpretation, but a very nice, almost refreshing finish.
Drink through 2025 or so, open for business.

  • 4th bottle of 6, last consumed a little over 1 yr ago.
Firing on all cylinders and ready to pair with slow-roasted leg of lamb, this Rhone Syrah is marvelously mature and seems at a gorgeous peak right now. Black cherry fruit, coal embers, camphor, mint, black peppercorns, and iron.
Perhaps olive paste and tar in the background. Velvety tannins, beautifully mature, with ample acidity to support and lengthen the earth-and-black-cherry finish.
Drink now through 2024+ or so, this is nearing or at it's apogee...lovely.

  • Not oxidized like the Sarrasine, but instead, rather affected and glossy. For Cote-Rotie, I'm not sure this delivers any goods for the tariff.

Bottle #2: ditto. crazy ripe and lacking acid. too much oak. smells like heavy-handed cali pinot. perhaps younger this had the structure to give the perception of being a decent wine. it isn't

...so at odds with previous notes that I'm suspecting heat damage. that would explain a lot of what I'm getting, but it doesn't taste cooked.

  • 3rd bottle of 6; last consumed 1+ yr ago.
Dark purple/black in color, with aromas of raw meat, iron, black pepper, blackberry, and mint.
Flavors of well-restrained and almost-ripened blackberry and black cherry, alongside anise, wet stones, and espresso grounds.
This is a lovely iteration of Syrah, I adore the feminisim and elegance of this wine. Gorgeous acidity, bright and incisive finish. Delicious.
Drink now through 2025 or so.

  • Could have waited longer, but why not. On the nose: blackberry, bramble, game, a touch of campfire, augmented by a touch of va. On the palate, lovely acidity and density, blackberry cola, some very soft medicinal herbs, and gripping finely grained tannin on the finish dusted with some black pepper spice. Yum!
