  The fruit is slightly faded, yet still darker and coming through. It’s thick and slightly musky. Soil. Definitely tasty.

  Every opening of this wine has been splendid. Deep color Great nose. Magnum bottle drank second day and it was even opening up more at that point. Would definitely buy this again.

  I've had other '08 Bien Nacido Syrahs and they have been outstanding. Jaffurs for example made a great '08, a 94+ CT score.
  This wine is disappointing. We decanted it, but got very little nose. It is flat, tannic and oaky with hints of dark fruits, olive and some light pepper. Way over priced and seemingly bad winemaking considering the vintage and vineyard. Not sure how the other notes score this one so high. Maybe the wine is changing. This one is a bad example of Cali Syrah. I would avoid it. Many better California Syrah options at $60.
