This powerful and plummy Cabernet tastes a bit past its peak, but it’s still enjoyable, in an indulgent, damn-the-torpedoes kind of way. Inky black in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of cherry pie, black licorice, and baking spices. Tastes of blueberry cobbler, milk chocolate, pencil lead, and pepper. Blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. 15.2% alcohol. Decant at least an hour. Drink in next year or so.

Deep ruby, and still not showing much sign of aging on the edges. I was saving this for a 5-year vertical (2007 - 2011), but never found the right opportunity to open all five and couldn't resist opening the 2007 for my husband's birthday. Really lovely. Dark bramble fruit, tar, licorice, cola, and cedar. Complex and well integrated, although the 15%+ ABV was evident from time to time. Really satisfying long finish.

Magical bouquet of fresh cut flowers, licorice, and blackberries. Secondary flavors of leather and earth have emerged to produce a very well balanced wine, but still showing great intensity both mid pallet and on the finish. Showing nice structure and significant acid for aging. Fruit is still present, but starting to give way. This is in a great place right now. Not sure there is a ton more upside, but it sure seems like it is built to last.

tasty new world Napa cab. aging quite nicely for the high alcohol, but with enough acidity to balance out the fruit
