  • My first bottle in over two years, this was decanted 90 minutes before serving and consumed over two nights. Very dark color with very little signs of age. Dark fruit aromas, medium+ body, excellent acidity, integrated tannins, lots of extraction, a bit of mid-palate sweetness, and a mineral and balsamic. It is silky and balanced, despite its 14.5% and a very hot year. The least aromatic vintage of Kyè I've had, the wine is nevertheless delicious as both a cocktail and dinner wine, and is a crowd pleaser. Very good QPR. Many years of life ahead.

  • Still a dark purple. Full bodied and still youthful. Blackberries, black plums, viloets, minerals, spice, black pepper. Not as complex as the 2008, which I liked better.

  • Very good wine. Never had Freisa before but would say that this is close to the apogee. Almost aromatic profile with plums, tobacco, sage, liquorice and thyme. A firm tannin grip and good structure. On the third day much more round and harmonic with preserved fruits, english liquorice and autum leaves.

  • I haven‘t tasted this in a few years. As 2009 is a vintage I don‘t like much in Piedmont, this is pretty surprising. Open, explosive and ready to go, this is showing notes of dark fruit, menthol, some spices, also some tobacco, minerality, as well as some flowery notes too, but there is mostly dark deep fruit (probably marked by the warm vintage). It‘s pretty full-bodied, but with good medium acidity providing some freshness and some lower-medium tannin that has melted away since I tasted it last time. Good length. A juicy, full-throttle Kye to drink now.
