2008 Beni di Batasiolo Barolo Brunate was tight and tart. The developing Nebbiolo was clear and medium ruby in colour. Two hours of decanting did not help much, as there were reticent aromas of blackberry, raspberry, liqourice and truffle. It was dry, medium-bodied and very tight on the palate with high levels of acidity and chalky tannin. There were consistent flavours of tart berries, earth and smoke in a medium finish.
