Popped and poured. Should have decanted for sediment. Medium garnet color. Nose of black plum, licorice, spice, cigar box, bit of toasty oak. Very nice mature aromas. Similar flavors on the palate but drank very soft with hardly any tannin and medium- acid. This wine was probably quite good a few years ago but is past peak at this point. I would drink up if holding any.

Popped and poured. Dark purple color. Nose of black cherry, black currant, cedar cigar box, some savory herbal notes and a touch of oak. Similar flavors on the palate with a rich and juicy mouthfeel. Medium+ acid and tannin. Drank better than expected and you can tell this wine has a good portion of sangiovese in the blend.

A beautifully styled California Toscana. Rich black fruit from the Unti Syrah and a nice spice punch from the Monte Rosso Sangiovese. Good to drink now, age worthy for another 5 years or so.

Italian Wines with Baked Ziti at Karen's House (Princeton, NJ): Cherry, currant, herbs, lots of spice and some tannins on the finish. I thought this was a good pairing with the baked, meat ziti.
Karen and I liked this wine. Jen not so much. (The Sangiovese is perhaps too aged). I had Corvined the bottle and left the rest with Karen.
