(Small Oregon tasting with a Volnay reference) A bit closed on the nose. Dark fruit. Cranberry and toasty oak. But also a balsamic note. Lacks some complexity. Medium-fullish, more satisfying palate. Still youthful. Dense and nicely austere. Dark fruit and raspberry. Tough and structured. Perhaps quite extracted and a bit over-worked. A certain lack of balance. But a lot of wine. Will benefit from further cellaring 2-4 yrs.

Starts off with a black cherry attack but as it sat in the decanter for an hour it took on decisively darker, earthier notes. Tons of Baker's chocolate, blackberry liqueur with notes of decayed leaves and warming spices. Quite loamy and plummy in the mouth. Should improve for two to three years and drink for another five or six.

Black cherry, raspberry, vanilla and slight peppery spice up front. Pretty complex given its youth. Slightly tannic with long finish. Really good now and should be great in 2-4 years. These 2012 Oregon Pinots will be fun to watch develop.

Nice wine. Trying to ignore that i recently found out the vintner is writing checks to our orange president. Won't be buying more.
