Powerfully made, this somewhat ripe and heavy rendition left me feeling that a little more lift would have showcases the grape a lot better. Still quite purple, nose "grapey" with notes of ripe raisin fruit (15% alcohol wasn't a surprise). On the palate it was dark red fruits and mushrooms. No hint of barrel finishing. Finish was smooth, calm and dull. Interesting and pleasant enough but nothing to suggest I will buy and cellar more except for something different to serve to my geeky wine friends.

Freisa is a new one for me. Proudly showing its family ties to Nebbiolo this is is massively tannic with big acidity and earthy mushroom cherry aromas, it is a beast of a wine but after a long decant it shows its more delicate side and stunning with slow roast lamb. This probably has years ahead of it such is the structure but can also be lovely now.

Rubino profondo, limpido, appena trasparente, abbastanza consistente. Grande frutto, ciliegia, frutti di rovo, mineralità e note animali, cenni floreali, rosa, speziato, pepe verde e liquirizia. Solo acciaio. Stupisce per la piacevolezza e la struttura.

Medium red. Fresh strawberry fruit. Bright, light and zesty in the mouth with a similar quality of the red fruit. No tannins to get in the way of enjoying this now.
