3 hour decant. In Portugal, this, and the various Borba flavours, are everywhere you look, so it's harder to approach it with an open mind, but I will try. This just reminds me, really, of "generic wine" - a little better than you might get from a box (although some boxes are quite expensive and decent now) - but, even though it's a cheapie, there are better to be had at this price - that said, if it's the one on the wine list at a cheap eaterie, it's an OK drop that's not getting in the way of anything.
No del todo opaco en su base, presenta unos bonitos gradientes color cereza. Aroma intenso y especiado. En boca persiste la especia, quizá ligeramente picante. Retrogusto de duración media, con toques ácidos.

Aeration helped the wine to open its aromas and flavours. Very earthy smell, like a South African Pinotage. The flavour is slightly tart, and again very earthy. 40% Trincadeira (Tinta Amarela); 40% Aragonêz (Tinta Roriz, or Tempranillo in Spain); and 20% Castelão (also known as Periquita), all grapes used to make port wine. I like dry reds from Portuguese varietals. Drink now; this wine is past its drinking window. CA$15.

Deep purple, light in the nose, but a weighty body, rich in fruit and character, finishing nicely. Stylish choice.

Solid wine, went with with pasta and red sauce.
