Popped and poured through an aerator. Blackcurrant, earth, slightly reductive, black plum, plenty of oak spice. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, black fruits, tight tannins are slightly chalky, still quite primary, very cabernet sauvignon and, with more time, it's starts to show some tertiary notes. Nice.

Coravin fun - Random Australians with ring-ins (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of polished oak, a little biscuit, very slight raisins. With agitation biscuit, cedar, alcohol prickle, eucalyptus, a little meaty charcuterie and some muted black fruit. with more time in the glass though it begins to settle down showing more blackcurrant jam and prune. In the mouth it's jammy concentrated, savoury with liquorice joining the fruit, tannins are granular and persistent, drying but in support, alcohol carries everything long with a little sweet oak spice on the finish. Hmm.

Coravin fun - Randoms (Kennards, Waterloo): From Coravin. Ripe black hued fruits; berries and currants, touches of savoury spice, a hint of almost diesel here, still a quite primary nose even after ten years. On the palate it's juicy, a little foursquare (polite) or monolithic (accurate) though with good fruit length and stylish and integrated tannins. Years left for me. Pretty good.

Cabernet Shiraz Tasting: Menthol/spearmint, basil and raspberry aromas. The palate has depth and restraint and is really quite impressive. Great length.

Tapanappa Tasting with Brian Croser (26 Waterloo Street, Surry Hills, Sydney): Deep ruby, clear with tears. Clean and developing and medium plus intensity concentrated blackcurrant and berry, farmyard, herbaceous, leather, cream, slight oak notes - cedar. In the mouth the wine is dry with medium acidity, medium plus tannin, medium alcohol, medium plus body and flavour intensity with flavours of black fruit and vanilla is hidden by tannic grip (tight and grippy), spice as well as cassis. very young
