Lovely floral and red fruit perfumed nose with cherry and some earth too. Palate is still vibrant but has taken on complexity. Very good, with real poise to it. Has time on its side, but it is great now! Enjoyed this much more than a bottle late last year that had some brett influence.

Sultana, very smokey, char and cherry aromas. Intense palate, with lots of kirsch. There is quite a bit of tannin influence but the balance overall is quite good. A few more years in bottle probably won't do any harm.

Red currant, briar, oak and cherry. Tannins assert their presence on the palate but there is some dense red fruit to counter, oak is there as well but it seems to be blending in well. This is getting to a good point to start drinking.

Dense nose of cedar, graphite and blackberry. Palate has good balance even though the fruit and structure are both intense. Youthful but I think it is impressive. Give it time!

Served blind. Mint, menthol, cherry and raspberry with coconut oak. Palate has that mint spectrum element too, it is medium bodied with the tannins still forceful. Good wine but giving it more time to age is a wise idea.

Served blind. The Coonawarra Cabernet element stands out here even though it is only 45%. Spice, cherry and light oak. Still primary on the palate and it doesn't seem to have mellowed out much yet at all. Has good structure and length and should age well over the next decade or so.

Served blind. Porty nose with VA and vegemite. Palate is better with rich fruit but it still doesn't have much depth to it.

Blackberry, violets and raspberry. Excellent length and persistence with great pure fruit character. Has plenty of time left to develop.

Closed on the nose, there is some smoke and tobacco. Palate is heavily tannic, it needs time but it is struggling now. Would give it another 4-5 years before looking at it again.

Raisin, salami/meaty elements, earth and mint. Palate is black fruited, it is approachable and still primary but should soar with more time.

Shut down nose - there is some licorice and some stemmy notes. Medium bodied, there is good length but really not a lot of character right now. In transition.

Raspberry, spice and cherry aromas. Great structure on the palate with very good length. Has great potential for improvement.

Alcohol heat and spice on the nose. Palate falls away and ends short. Not sure that this was a properly representative bottle.

Expressive nose - blueberry, floral and cinnamon notes. Palate is bright with the blueberry character balanced against the oak, there is good structure and length. Very youthful and will improve significantly given the chance.

Mostly dark on the nose nose with graphite and blackcurrant with some raspberry and florals to give it lift. Bold and primary on the palate, there is structure behind it too. Balanced and very tasty but also youthful and with potential. Slightly ahead of the 2006 for my taste now.

Toasty oak, blackcurrant, chocolate and some red cherry. Bold and vibrant on the palate with good balance. There is quite a bit of tannin right now but the vibrant fruit masks it well. Plenty of room to move upward.

Tobacco, charcoal and cherry. Very medium bodied on the palate, with some bright fruit and good balance. One for the medium rather than the long term I think.

Menthol/spearmint, basil and raspberry aromas. The palate has depth and restraint and is really quite impressive. Great length.

Black pepper, some floral notes and raspberry. Light body, it doesn't have incredible depth but it is pleasant and tasty. Medium length.

Spice, cedar, cinnamon and red fruits. Fruit drives the palate, but there is some structure as well. Quite good.

Berries, graphite, spice and oak. Palate is forward with red fruit and good length. Drink now.

Smoke, earth, plum and cherry. Palate has resolved out a bit, there is good length along with big sweet fruit. Can go a few more years.

Some brett, leather and earth - seems quite Hunter Valley like. Good textural element to the palate. Good but not great.

Honey, ginger, lots of caramel and brown sugar. Good sweetness but doesn't quite have the depth or acidity of a truly great TBA. Drink now.

1971 Mildara O.H. 71 Cabernet Shiraz 87 Points

Mint and leather, with some mocha and tobacco. Palate is leathery and is holding up okay. Totally resolved and a bit soft around the edges as a result but still fine to drink and as a curio.

Brett, leather and funky earth. Very tired on the palate, with a bitter edge. 79 or so if scoring.
