Quick decant before family dinner. A lot of vanilla on the nose (harbinger of things to come), and maybe a bit hot. Great color and depth. The winemaking was very consistent for B Cellars - more fruit than vegetal - new world, but not obnoxious - good depth of flavor and finish. But, I wanted more for a To Kalon of this age. Yes, it’s still young, but I got a sense of process over terrior. Well made with a pleasing style, balancing new and old world. Just nothing fantastic that screams First Growth.

decanted ~3hrs prior to drinking .. paired with bison ribeye and dry aged beef t-bone... muted on the nose upon decanted and never became terribly aromatic, deep dark color, but on the palate, oh my, dark fruit with some spice and hint of herb/pepper, longish finish ... the four of us nursed it as long as we could .. wish i had a couple more of these but alas, all gone.

Decanted for an hour. Great nose and balanced between the oak and dark berries. But flavor was not very strong. A bit boring while drinking.

The taste of alcohol was so overpowering. Great wine, but disappointed.
