On opening, we thought it was a chemical weapon. Decanted for 1 day - it got better but not by much. High alcohol, bizarre fruit concentration (port-like is accurate) and glue nose. Not spoiled or corked/oxidized, mind you, it is what it is.

Kreuzritter - Vol. 3: Tasted blind. I loved the signature Aussie Shiraz spices in this one, the structure is good too and the wine is in a good drinking spot today. The fruit however was a bit too much for me – too ripe. A minus for the lack of complexity too. Nevertheless, in my opinion better than the 89 average score here is suggesting.
TN: Above everything else there is this great spiciness which lures you in. The fruit however, is more like in a port wine.. Still the wine managed to stay fresh and quite elegant (despite the high alcohol) and the overall experience was balanced with enough tension and long finish.
Decanting: Decanted for 5+ hours and that didn’t hurt.

Found a couple of bottles of this wine in my cellar and decided to open one. Must admit that despite the close to 15% alcohol, I really liked this one. It is clearly Barossa Shiraz, big and burly with tons of pepper and spices on the palate. Exactly as it should be. It's been a while since I've opened a bottle from down under, this one was a positive surprise. Dinner at Scott and Patty's house.

Makan Session (Jia wei restaurant): Lots of spicy fruit and oak but with age , this was tamed and exuding modern international styled black fruit characters. Not too bad with licourice and some exotic spices too.
