My only one of this. I suspect it was more bombastic previously and is currently past peak, but it's ok for my palate tonight. Still pours an inky black like motor oil, with purplish ruby edges. Smells like dark fruits, graphite, woody oak, charcoal, and walnuts. Not shy on the oak here, even at 14 years of age. Body is light to medium, acid and alcohol have some punch though, and a moderate to long finish, with flavors of cassis and blackberry fruit, lemon, and some notable salinity and minerality. Still a little grip to the teeth post meal, but I wouldn't sit on this if I had any more. Paired unsurprisingly well with a steak dinner tonight. 89-90

80% Malbec 20% Syrah. This was my go to red in Mendoza a few years ago and it's still fresh as a daisy at 9 years old. Deceptively elegant for a 15% wine. You would think it was no more than 14% without reading the label. If only I brought back more.

Decanted for 2 hours, opened up nicely. Excellent balance, good fruit but not overpowering like a lot of malbecs do. Ready to drink now - brought from Argentina sorry I don't have more.

Compared with another bottle from the same year (2006), which I drank in 2012, this was clearly worse. Both aroma and taste were already going down.

Sweet bouquet. Much better if decanted for a couple of hours. Full body. Great company for barbecued beef.
