Solid red burgundy, smooth, succulent, a bit racy and with a spicy lick. A crunch of dark red fruit with classic soubois to underpin it. All the allure of Vosne-Romanée is present, a very nice village wine drinking well at 12 years. Off the list at Noizé - Matthieu has only been offering it for about a month.

Magnum, first of six. Zalto burgundy, P & P. Not yet fully developed. Little perfume, lovely clear colour, still a bit sharp, no significant length. Somewhat closed in this format, but not without promise. Leave for 4-5 years, in magnum anyway.

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -med red, minimal clearing at edge -initially muted to the point of being non-expressive, slowly builds up aromatically to reveal subtle low key but pure dark cherry with gentle dusty spice -med acidity lends a sour tone to the med/med- weight earthy dark cherry finishing with med/med+ chalky tannins, not tremendous depth or complexity but an understated purity -not flashy but solid Vosne with a stately elegance that is still probably a few years away from its apogee

Blinded. Nose was quite muted in the Riedel O Pinot glass, but giving in a Zalto Universal - a little bit of flowers, spice and that red-fruit profile, which followed onto the palate. Pure and transparent, this was medium-length'ed. A good village!

Sweet pure fruits. Palate coarse but lingering finish.
