  • This had some very persistent reduction on the nose. It didn't blow off with air or by the second day. However it was still a tasty wine. A lovely tangy dark cherry fruit, almost like a cherry lozenge but with nice acidic cut and good length. Shame about the nose but it was still enjoyable. Would have given it 89 were it not for the nose / reduction. 86

  • Exeptionally good today. I tasted my first bottle of this wine right after it was released in my country, and at that point the wine was utterly undrinkable. I think that was back in february of 2014. There was only some reduction and animal notes and it was a battle to drink. Now though, this wine is in the middle of it's drinking window. Grivot wines are often a bit harsh to begin with, and 5 years storage for a bourgogne rouge is obviously necessary. Nose has some warm animal notes with some reduction and green twigs. But there is also fruitiness on the nose. Cherries and rubber candy hiding in the background somewhere. After some sniffing I fear the worst when I take my first sip, but the wine tastes nothing like the nose suggests. Full of luscious fruit in great balance with acidity and residual tannins. Remarkably good when taking the appellation into account. A great relief to drink something that I had mostly written off as undrinkable beforehand, and then getting this pleasant surprise! This is yummy right now and the next four years.

  • Helt over i karaffel rett før drikking.

  • Very reductive initially, both on the palate and nose. A day or two later it drinks better, but still feels a bit awkward. Good though after an hour in the glass and when I get used to the animal note of reduction hanging over the wine. Decent concentration.
