Pours a ruddy vermillion. Nose shows sherry and raisin up front, red berry lingering in the background. Smells fresh. Tart acidity up front led by a vegetal quality, maybe some rhubarb and under-ripened strawberry. There's some cedar and leather for depth. The raisin comes through again with some caramel and molasses to coat the mouth. Forgot about this budget nebiollo in the cellar, and I'm glad I did - It hasn't lost a step and the tannins are soft.

On the nose, there is leather, coffee, Band-Aid, resin, liquorice & floral tobacco. Quite a nice combo, actually.
With this much age, the palate is smoky and meaty, followed by tobacco, cedar & coffee flavours. There is a slightly waxy, saddle leather note on the back end that I find odd.
Be sure to decant for 1.5 hours!

Opened last night and saved a splash over night in the bottle in the fridge to taste tonight. Bright garnet with a clear rim. Red fruit with cola and amaro on the nose. Medium(-) weight with black tea tannins. Red fruits with medicinal (pleasant) amaro herbal notes. A bit short on the finish.
