Beautiful nose, more open than the last bottle. Excellent early tertiary notes around Vosne spice, farmyard, sandal wood. Elegant palate. A treat, WOTN in tonight’s Pipette dinner.

This was a bit closed when it came out of the cellar but a 30min decant did wonders. Fully open then with a really beautiful nose of flinty aromas, some whole cluster elements, oak, red current, sweet spices. The palate is a touch light for the structure and as expected cannot compete with the 2009/10 but for a 2011 this is really well made. Ready now with a short decant. Nose 95+, palate 93.

This 2011 Mongeard Mugneret Grands Echezeaux offers an attractive bouquet of glossed red fruits and rose petals that resembles Musigny, a 2011 outperformance! Tasted blind - Floral and ethereal bouquet of musty cherry and polished red berries resembling Musigny. Gentle extraction with fine ripeness and acidity. Grand Cru weight and intensity, sweet oak toast and spices with attractive underlying stemmy nose. Musigny? 2010? (91/100)

Hum que c’est bon. Une profondeur et une densité incroyable. La texture en bouche est aussi impressionnante. 2011... on dirait que le millésime est en train de changer. Un fruit épicé, chocolaté et légèrement viandeux. Top longueur.

Brought by Nick for Uncle Cliff's CNY Day 2 lunch at Ji-Pin (Xinyi Store). Broad flavour, paired exceptionally well with Peking Duck.
