  • Decanted like crazy, bold delicious juice of course, and great match for Wagyu at In Bloom in Paso.

  • Far from ready. Too young. Tannins still a bit harsh and drying. Concentrated morello cherry and eucalyptus. Needs time to really blossom and integrate. Revise in 10 years.

  • Excellent+. Wow is this drinking well. Dark ~magenta with no bricking. Licorice, sweet and smoky cherry, sour cherry, plum, cedar, something like a hot wind blowing through chaparral, fennel seed, mint, warm dry arid earth, cool spices. Tertiary notes like leather come in, even though by appearances it doesn't show age. I kept thinking "Cab meets Sangiovese". The other taster, who didn't know what the wine was, first guessed Bordeaux, maybe Merlot, but not quite and thought "Super Tuscan". Aglianico is a noble grape for sure!

Drinks nicely on PnP and gets a little bit better over hours with air.

This wine is great with grilled steaks.

This was the first of two bottles purchased five years ago for $35. Solid QPR! I think this will go for up to another decade, but I don't see much point in holding more than another five years.

  • Changed a lot with air. Settled after two hours of decanting and was fantastic.

  • Plenty of dried earth, worn leather jacket, of wet tobacco leaves wine a mineral quality (like campfire smoke after dousing with some water). Some green twigs in there, tar that unfold to a more funky edge with manure, roasted herbs and then black fruits.
Full-bodied, the texture is sandy towards crushed velvet; the acid is firm and solid, stretching to the finish. The tannins feel granular with slight edges. Flavours continue as the nose with earth, warm tarry and tertiary notes. Alcohol seems in check; the wine has an excellent concentration to the mid-palate, a lovely mineral edge fleshed out with blackberry confit/jam and dried black cherry. Slightly extracted, the long finish avoids being too dry as it is filled with sweet fleshy fruit. Well-balanced, exceptional wine.
