Very attractive poised dry riesling: citrus and white peach, wet stones, light fragrant herbs, glycerin, acetone. Both tart and round on the palate. Authentic, pure, modest: just right.

Flight 5, Germany - Robert Weil, Wine 2 (non-blind): Tasted at the winery. “VDP.Ortswein” according to the new 2012 VDP Classification. The wine offered a fresh nose of lemon and peach aromas as well as ethereal and mineral notes. On the palate the wine showed lemon, peach, some pineapple and mineral notes, paired with medium-plus acidity and very good length. A medium-bodied, very well-made “Ortswein” of very good quality. The wine’s precision as well as the presence of ethereal and mineral notes stood out on this quality level. Well done!

Winery Visit (@ Robert Weil, Rheingau): In the bouquet a firm amount of grasses, white fruits, pineapple and minerals. On the palate good dry with minerals, white fruits and tart lime. Focused and precise with a good length. Really good! 88+

Like the Rheingau bottling, this has floral qualities with a touch of herb on the nose, together with stoniness that I don't often get from bottlings of this level. However this bottling is just richer and more complex on the nose. Fresh and light, transparent style. 88-89

Apple and petrol on the nose, apples and peaches leading to a steely, oily medium dry finish. Decent enough - a straightforward German riesling.
